updating the sky tv software - how do you do it?

I had an extra sky boc added to my multiroom account last week. today I have gone to turn the sky box on in that new room but the red light on the sky box does not turn amber or green - stays on red. Meanwhile the tv screen shows a messege saying that the software needs updating and to go to Sky.com/softwareupdate to do this.

I cannot force a sky update through the sky menu because it is not showing because the sky box remains on red ..... help?!
