sky remote

I have just returned to sky and the new fibre WFI, no sky remote came with the new box and I purchased one seperately but I can't pair it with the TV,  I have tried countless times doing numbers 7 & 9 and then 1 & 3, the romote does flash red but it doen't do anything to the TV,  I can only switch on the TV with the tele remote, the sky remote still won't work and my screen goes blank and starts counting down 3 mins saying no WFI and then turns off, all help is aimed at having a sky box next to the tv with fibre I don't have one that's in a seperate room, and everything else around the house is all working from the fibre box, the tv is also connected to sky, but it's no good if I can't use the sky remote.

Which Sky television system do you think you have?

If there wasn't a remote in the box, that sounds like it was the router (Hub) for broadband which by itself is not a television platform (and by definition doesn't use a remote control)

Sky television over broadband requires a Stream puck (connected to the television set with an HDMI cable) and a content subscription.

Pairing a Sky remote with a TV just permits power and volume control: it doesn't cause Sky subscription television to appear on the screen.

Re: sky remote

Hi I have a multi-screen contact with Sky including all channels.

From what you say I need to contact Sky for the relevent equipment to enable me to get into my TV,  only thing I can watch is on stream with BBC, Amazon etc.

Thank you for your help 👍

Unless you were specifically expecting a system which requires a satellite dish, or ordered a Sky-branded television set ('Glass') at considerable cost then the appropriate equipment is a Stream 'puck'.

Re: sky remote

I've just been into my account and it says on there that a mini box has been ordered, shame they didn't send it at the same time I received the new router, hopefully that will solve the problem.

Thank you for you help, it has saved me another wasted day trying to get the TV to work for my hubby who does watch a lot of TV, I was unaware that a box was needed as the Open Reach engineer said the new router didn't need any extra boxes, so assumed wrongly as it turned out that I did need one.

Typically a Stream puck would be despatched ahead of a router, so it sounds like something has gone astray.

Perhaps note that a 'mini box' is satellite television hardware associated with the Q platform rather than streaming.
