YouTube picture size too big through Sky Q app

Hi,

I watched a documentry on YouTube through the Sky Q app and noticed that the picture was too big for the screen cutting off parts of some writing that was on the top of the screen.

I have looked at the settings and can't seem to find anything to size the picute to suit. Does anyone know if this is possible?

If i watch YouTube from the television app everything is fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Did you ever sort this out? I setup my Sky Stream today and found the same problem.

Generally always best to use the TV's inbuilt applications as they are often correctly matched to the device.  Sky's app provides access and provides compatibility but not necessarily optimum performance.  (Most notably the forced refresh rate)

Re: YouTube picture size too big through Sky Q app

I have just noticed this issue on my sky q mini.

it's a simple fix on my end, on the TV, not sky, i went into settings opened up the full settings page (my tv has a quick access settings), in the picture section of settings you have the aspect ratio, in here there is a setting called just scan, which was set to auto. I have enabled the just scan to on, and the sky picture zoomed out to fix perfectly to my screen.

this did also the sky q mini box itself to be zoomed out slightly more.

hope this helps anyone come across this post as I did after some help with this problem, that I happen to remember how to fix it.

Funnily enough I had the same issue last night on a Sky Q mini and adjusting the "just scan" setting on my LG TV also fixed it.

Thank you! I could only change this setting on my TV after going into a YouTube video -- just FYI.

Also, I loved that you ended your comment with "I have autism." I don't know why, but that made me like your answer even more. 🙂

Re: YouTube picture size too big through Sky Q app

Yes this is a TV settings issue due to something called Overscan which is often turned on by default and slightly zooms in the picture.

Normal TV programmes take this into account and position graphics slightly away from the edges so they don't get cut off but it can be noticeable on other things like YouTube videos.

It can always be disabled in the TV settings but  TV manufacturers all call it different things like Full Pixel, Just Scan, Unscaled and various other names.
