Hi
I have a friend that has had to buy a new TV, their parnter is hard of hearing so often uses headphones, one the old TV they plugged a set of headphones into the 3.5mm jack socket on the TV, however their new TV does not have a 3.5mmJack socket. It does have an Optical out Socket, so I suggested they buy a Digital to Analog Audio converter to plug this into the Optical Out Socket and then the headphones into the 3.5mm Output on the Digital to Analog Converter.
Below is a link to the Digital to Analog Audio converter they purchased
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KNNSKV0/
The problem is that they have a Sky Sound Bar connected to the Q Box via the HDMI Connector on the Sky Q Box and it seems that no sound is goind to the Optical Out socket on the TV.
Does anyone know if I plugged the Digital to Analog Audio converter in the Optical Out Socket on the Sky Q Box would this work? also would this cut the sound to the Sky Sound Bar (connected via the HDMI) or would the sound output to both the HDMI and the Optical Out?

It's necessary for the optical out format on the Q box to be set to normal in the Audio Visual settings
HDMI output can be Dolby Digital if the Soundbar is capable. They should get output for both

Just an update I have done what you suggested and all worked fine, when I first plugged the converter into the Q Box there was no sound, but then set the Optical Out to Normal in the Audio Visual Settings and the headphones came to life. Thanks again for all of your help.
