everything I'd set to off
"What" exactly? Just set your pin to something simple like '1111'. People moaning about entering a simple 4 digit number...... I'll stop there!

Re: Turn off pin protected programms
It's not about having a simple pin, it's about wanting to let something run in the background that has been recorded - an 18+ boxset for instance. It's ridiculous that Sky make you enter your pin after each episode. You had no need to comment there at all

@KT140486 It's bit Sky making you enter it, they have to follow the rules set by OfCom.

Presumably the channel is now carrying content which requires Mandatory Daytime Protection: this would give them access to a much wider range of programmes to fill their schedule.

My suggestion was a valid one that reduces the "pain" of entering 4 digits to allow you to watch a channel that has had a level of control added to it due the 'law of the land' that Sky are forces to adhere to. It's a first world problem that for some reason gets people's backs up & I just don't understand why.

Re: Turn off pin protected programms
I wasn't complaining about entering a "simple pin" and I don’t need to change it
I literally moved home and suddenly it pops up on every program even tho it's all switched to off

Moving home will not have influenced this.

Well yes I did assume that
I was just stating that that is when it changed 👀

Re: Turn off pin protected programms
Bloody stupid that you have to put the pin in for every pin protected channel, once put in it should cover all channels!

Re: Turn off pin protected programms
Mandatory PIN
A compulsory audience protection tool for
consumers to restrict access to unsuitable
content. This tool cannot be removed by the user and requires a PIN (personal information number) to be entered each time the user accesses the content. The PIN must be chosen by the account holder and allows only those authorised to view the content.

Mandatory Daytime Protection is ultimately a political creation and would require political intervention to be revised.

Re: Turn off pin protected programms
Nonsense, I can watch the same programme / episode on other channels without this government control. Answer that please?

Which programme and which channels? It's normal for something that requires a PIN on Sky or Virgin to be available without a PIN on Netflix/Amazon/Disney etc, as broadcast platforms are subject to more regulation than streaming platforms.

All broadcast (live EPG) channels have the same restriction: most simply don't carry such content before 21:00
Ofcom fines for not applying Mandatory Daytime Protection correctly are severe, and a repeat offender would ultimately face losing its UK broadcast licence.
There's inevitably a degree of variation: sometimes content is edited to remove problematic material, for example, and occasionally the PIN control is misapplied.

When SKY Atlantic & other channels show certain material before the relevant 'watershed' it will always be present & you cannot turn it off
https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-TV/Is-there-any-way-I-can-turn-this-damn-parental-control-off/ba-p/...
Do check that all the relevant options in Parental Controls are appropriately set but as I say you may need it for some
Our advice is to set the PIN to something like 1111 to help enter it when needed
The stange thing is yes on Sky you must have a pin to view adult material before watershed however I have now tv for sky cinema showing the same live films channels as Sky Q and stream and I can view all without any pin what so ever. I just tried it I am watching trading places which certificate 15 and it came on no pin required. Ovaasly ofcom rules do not apply to now tv
