Told not to return sky q box

I spoke with a customer service representative last week who said that I didn't need to return sky q hardware (it's 5 years old) and that he would delete from the account and it would show as returned. This hadn't yet happened and the app still shows as 'awaiting return.' Has anyone else experienced this please?

There have been previous reports on the forum that Sky may not want back some older Q boxes.

I wouldn't dispose of it quite yet though...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Sky are winding down Sky Q. They are not refurbishing older boxes in the same quantities they once did so aren't asking some customers to return their equipment. Keep a hold of it for a month or two then you can print off a freepost returns label anyway and return it to them for recycling if you don't want to do anything with it.

I presume when the time come to end of the life of Sky satellite and we are all persuaded to go on two Sky stream from Q Sky will  not asking us to return our old boxes we could just take them down to.local curry store for disposal

Indeed. Same as with the old Sky+ and Sky+HD boxes - they were yours to do with as you please. I ripped the hard drive out of one of my old boxes and used it as a backup drive on my PC for a while. One I sold on eBay and another I sent back to Sky for recycling.

They will all effectively become useless when the satellite service ceases, after which you can take them to any small electrical recycling point if you don't want to send them back to Sky to deal with.
