sky q box got stuck so I had to switch it off, when it boosted back up.
I find I have to use sound bar remote control again to switch sound bar on.
but the volume is ok on sky q for sound bar as I tried pairing them up (7+9, then 1+3) hmmm what am I missing?? Thanks gx

How is the sound bar connected ?
Is it connected via HDMI from the SKY Q box or just via an HDMI from the TV or is it only connected via an optical cable ?
The SKY Q remote won't use an infrared code to power on (or off) the Sound bar but it can use HDMI Control to trigger to wake it up (as The TV can if connected that way)
Check the setting in
Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual for HDMI Control and ensure it is On
You are likely to need to check a similar setting on your Sound Bar
