Sky q mini "general" volume higher than other devices

Hi all. This has frustrated me for far too long now.. I've got 3 mini boxes, on 3 different brands of tvs, and the problem is the same on all... The volume on the mini boxes is a lot higher than anything else plugged into the tvs (Chromecast etc.) And native tv apps.

As a result, whenever I'm switching to the sky HDMI, I'm having to quickly turn the TV volume down, and when I switch to a different input, I have to turn the TV back up again. Everything else seems to be dt pretty much the same volume, so it's definitely that the mini boxes are too loud.

I remember on old sky boxes before q, there used to be a way to adjust the volume of the box in the menus, but I've found no such setting on these minis. Does anyone know if there's a way?

It's a digital signal - no volume...

try changing the output, e.g. PCM to DD

Re: Sky q mini "general" volume higher than other devices

That might just be semantics. There is still a concept of "volume" involved with the signal being sent. Take for example if you plug a PC into a TV via HDMI, you still have control over the volume the PC outputs to the TV, i.e. you can turn the PC volume up and down to make things louder and quieter, without adjusting the tv volume. My chromecasts also allow their "volume" to be adjusted too independently, therefore impacting the "loudness" of the signal being sent to the TV.

I'll see if I can find the settings you've suggested though to see if it helps.

It's up to the host device how it processes the digital signal.  Of course, there's an amplifier on the analogue stage to vary the volume...  but the digital signal is not altered.
