Sky mini box stopped working

Hi my sky mini box just shut off earlier and now won't worked. Checked status on main box and all looks okay and connected. Remote seems to have stopped working also. Mini box will only turn on by button on box and stuck at trying to connect to internet now. Can't come out of page as remote isn't working. Pressed 7&9 together on remote ba dot doesn't do anything nor does 1&3 either. What could this be? Thanks

Hi @Glenners1 

Try using your main Q remote to see if this will work the mini.

You need to completely reset it as follows:

Mini needs to be on with Green led.

Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the mini box and press 1 & 3 together until the remote led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

 

When you want to use it again for your Q box just repeat the above procedure using the main Q box.

Thanks. I did that and it started giving me the options to connect the remote. Got right through to 'finish' and then won't let me select it or do anything else?

Hi @Glenners1 

Try just pressing the 7 & 9 until the remote led flashes 4 times again.

Then don't try to pair it but see if it will work the mini.  It will be in infrared mode and so you need to point it at the mini when you try it.

That has worked now thankyou. The mini won't connect to the main sky box now

Hi @Glenners1 

First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the mini.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Reboot the mini as above.
If the mini still does not connect try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box. If you do this make sure you press the Sky router WPS button and not the router reset button.

Failing all of the above you may need a Sky Q WiFi Booster to position midway between your main Q box and the mini and you will need to contact Sky directly.

Thanks...nothing worked. Spoke to Sky yesterday and the box was stuck in standby so they are sending me a new one 🙂

@Glenners1 if they are sending you a new box via DPD it will be a doorstep swap where DPD will expect the old box to be unplugged and ready to be collected and they will take the old box when they give you the new box 

REMEMBER TO REMOVE YOUR VIEWING CARD FROM THE OLD BOX it is situated on the right hand side of the box towards the front
