Hi all,
my sky mini box continually losses connection with my sky q box and this is after having the set up for 4 years but it's only just started 4 months ago, broadband is the same, the sky q box is in the same place, sky mini box on the same place, no new devices pinching the WiFi, seen so many people having the same problem recently, does anyone think the mini box or a box need replacing? Anyone having similar issues?

I replied to one of your posts elsewhere.
Wi-fi can be affected by intererence if there are a lot of devices fighting for bandwidth on your network. Similarly, even next door can cause interference, as can bluetooth devices.
As I said elsewhere, having experienced the issue on multiple devices (and not always the Sky ones), I gave up and hardwired.
Your first port of call is to get direct Sky support and go from there.

Did you get this resolved @PhilTinaC ? Ive been having the same issues with sky related products only.. the wifi works for all devices unless connceting to a sky app (sky go etc.) therefore i can rule out interference I think? It seems very sporadic but is getting increasingly frustrating having to reset it every night.
I've noticed a lot of people are having this issue so i wonder if there was an issue with an update thats causing this?

Hi, @Gb17
I tried a lot of things to try and resolve the issue,, the things I've done which has made it more stable are connecting the main sky q box by cable to the router rather than WiFi, I've replaced all my Ethernet cables with high quality ones as I read that older cheaper ones can break down and connected the mini box to the router network rather than the sky generated network., I'm no expert and have no idea if any of the above is needed but for the last couple of months it's not been as bad. I do get the odd time the mini box disconnects but it's not been as bad .
Hope you get it sorted as it's extremely frustrating and strange that it started happening after a few years with no change to the set up from new.

You have Sky broadband? Because if not, the mini cannot connect to the router instead of the Q.

Hi @Chodley
I have seethelight fibre which is part of sky apparently, and according to the settings in my mini box it's connected to the router and not the q box

Very interesting! I wonder why they set up another fttp provider. Whether it was to attract customers who don't want a big name with busy outsourced support, or if maybe the subsidies/inventives for the fttp rollout were only available to smaller Telcos.

I think it has something to do with new build housing sites selling the broadband/fibre rights to only a certain number of providers. I can't get actual sky broadband here but seethelight are part of them according to what I read. For me the things I've changed seems to of made a difference but I appreciate everyone's set up/issues are different. Just hope everyone can get theirs sorted

My assumption is they don't just because they can't use their installers' network analysis software and remote diagnostics if they don't control the hardware. And if so, it's quite ironic that it ends up creating so many support issues.
