I'm about to cancel my subscription with Sky but was considering using the dish for Freesat. Is this possible? The TV is new so hopefully compatible with current boxes but the dish was installed a number of years ago so not sure if it's compatible with current boxes.

As @GD1 says the LNB (the electronic bit on the dish) that is used for SKY Q will only work with the newer 4K Freesat Receivers
If you want freesat you would thus have 2 options - 1) buy a compatible freesat box or 2) - assuming youyr TV has builtin freesat - get the 'Wideband' LNB changed for a 'Universal' LNB that Freesat capable TVs & older freesat boxes use
