Sky box replacement

Has anyone had a similar experience,i was sent a replacement sky box because my hard drive had apparently died, which is all fine.

My concern is about the delivery of my new kit by "DPD".I am aware that i had to return the old box so when they arrived i handed over my old box and the driver then began to open the new parcel ,take out the new box and hand it to me,no cables no remote.I then asked about the remote an he then said yes but i need the old one.

As a result i was unable to connect the box and five days later i still have no sky tv.

All comments will be welcomed.

On both times I had a doorstep Q box replacement with DPD I handed over the box, remote and power cable and made sure I received the same in return. It's vital that you do this (and Sky should make it clearer) because there are variants in power supply for different versions of Q box. If you are give a v2 box as a replacement for a v3 for example, the power connector from a v2 box will not fit a v3.

Did you just hand over your Q box when the courier came? Did you keep your old remote? You should be able to pair it to the new box if that is the only thing you are having trouble with.

Follow the instructions here:

Re: Sky box replacement

Thank you.I was only told to return my old box not the cables.Whatever new box they gave me your correct to say the power cables are not the same. This is why i still cannot connect the new box.

I still object to a courier opening a parcel addressed to me and handing over whatever he pleases and not even mentioning that i should hand over some cables.

And as i said i only received the new and more upto date remote when i asked..

The instruction booklet i was given (separately} states connect pink hdmi cable into pink port.... the port is purple.

Connect blue end of power cable into blue port .... there is no blue port.

Wrong box ????? wrong instructions ?????

And as i stated i cannot comment on the cables as i was not given any.

@Vincent1737 afraid thats how the doorstep swap works the DPD driver opens the box removes the contents and expects the old box cables etc to be handed back.

The only remotes Sky do now are the new non-touch remotes the touch remotes were discontinued around 2019 but all tremotes will work with all Sky Q boxes .

We do reccommend on here which is too late for you is to check what box  is being given to you and make sure you get the correct cables as you have found out the V2 box uses a different power cable to the other 2 versions of the box. If your didnt get the correct power cable for the box you have now you need to contact Sky

.

Re: Sky box replacement

Thanks for advice.

I would like to assume that the package and its contents were compatable.

As i stated the instructions do not match the box regardless of type of cables.

Yes, sadly the instructions are somewhat out of date and relate back to when there was just one type of Sky Q box.

Sky must have changed their policy with DPD on the doorstep swaps. The last time I had one, which admittedly was over 18 months ago, I had actually boxed up my faulty Q box in the box it originally came in, along with the power cable and remote. When the courier arrived he just opened the box he was delivering and inside was a new, boxed & sealed Q box which he handed me. I gave him my boxed box and he put that in the returns box. I was then left to unbox the new Q box which came complete with new remote, power cable and HDMI cable. Sorry, I've used the word box rather a lot there... 😁

Re: Sky box replacement

Thanks again.

Its beyond me why sky are bothered about old cables and why this replacement procedure is so ridiculous and even more ridiculous is the people i have spoken to at sky have no idea what is doing on... and its now 5 days with no tv snd counting.
