Sky Sports Upgrade- Do I need broadband?

Hi there

I organise Sky for my Dad (I am the account holder but it is his house). His bill was getting expensive for just the basic tv package and so we were going to cancel so that my dad could sign up as a new customer and avail of one of the new customer sports deals.  When I went to cancel they offered me the sports package for the same price we were paying and they said the sports channels would be available today. 2 hours later and there's no sign of the sports channels having been activated. It then dawned on me that we may need broadband to access the sports channels? My dad doesn't have wifi/broadband, he just uses hot-spot from his phone.

Does he need broadband for the channels to be applied?

Many thanks

hi @EmMars93

as you have now found out you don't need briadband for the main SKY Sports channels which are delivered via Satellite (glad it now works for you/your dad)

However for info.,  some content accessed from the Sports channels via the Red Button is delivered by and needs internet (e.g. alternative Tennis Matches, F1 in car cameras amongst others)
