Sky Sports UHD Query

Hi all. Hoping someone can help me or confirm it this is supposed to be the case.

I have an LG smart TV with various picture modes including Sports. On normal HD I can select Sports however when on Ultra HD Sky Sports this appears to be be missing and i can only see Standard, Film maker mode and I believe Cinema.

I've looked online and I believe it's something to do with how Sky broadcasts it's HDR/UHD coverage. I've checked on my Sky Box and 2160p is selected.

Please can someone clarify if this is right?

Many thanks

Hi @Ant1987

You need 2160p 10 bit for UHD HDR content.

See following link for UHD help

hi @Ant1987

I don't know about LG Tvs but my Panasonic TV does still list most TV modes when watching UHD/HDR content

Sports Mode & Dynamic/Vivid modes tend to apply a lot of digital processing and specifically increase brightness which can leave too little room to allow the full dyamic range of HDR content

Personally I nearly always stay with THX Cinema Mode (the closest to modern Filmaker mode) - I find Sports mode in particular too overprocessed (similar to Vivid/Dynamic) . That said occasionally I would use a slightly  brighter mode to watch the now retired SKI Sunday
