Sky Q on sky glass tv

We have recently moved back to sky q but had to retain the sky glass TV. We cannot get rid of the sky glass home page and when we click through to get onto sky Q through it the remote stops working.. it brings up a banner of programmes across the bottom which you can't scroll through - you can only press the back button which takes you back to glass home screen. Tried both remotes and doing it with both.. help!!
