Sky Q main box and mini is very hot

Both my Sky Q boxes are very hot. Both are very well ventilated and not enclosed. Does this matter, since they're both still working, or should I ask Sky to replace them with more recent equipment as I have had my Sky Q since it was invented. Many thanks

That might indicate the wireless link between them is struggling.

Q was released in early 2016.  Mini boxes are still effectively the same: while there have been subsequent generations of main box hardware the only significant difference is that a v1 2TB can do UHD but not HDR.

Thanks for your comments but you did not mention the most recent main box has a smaller more efficient hard disk than mine which is creating all the heat. I need a new main box before it burns my house down.

@Ironside2

The boxes should always be cool enough that you can rest your hand on the top. You may need to contact Sky and get it swoped.

If they arrange a doorstep box swop don't forget to remove your viewing card from the main box before it disappears into the back of a van.

Thanks. Would never have thought to remove the viewing card!

Smaller capacity (1TB rather than 2TB) but not a smaller form factor: it's physically the same size.  Efficiency may have a marginal gain from being more recent manufacturer, but HDD technology is very mature (and all spinning drives of such small capacity are obsolete apart from in set top boxes: SSDs have overtaken them in mainstream use)
