Re: Sky Q lock ups with EE router

Hi

Changed broad band to EE earlier this year. And I have exactly the same problem !!! On my 4th Sky Q box in as many months. Power adaptor changed, HDMI cable changed, Ethernet Cable changed. Q box plugged directly into the mains. Even the remote control changed. Every day at some point I find the Q box on amber (standby) with whirring sound coming from the box. FROZEN. I have to disconnect and reconnect the mains to get the Q box working. This also happens whilst watching live TV. The picture freezes with then the same whirring sound coming from the box. Again R/C will not work and again have to reboot from the mains to get the device working. This is a daily occurrence. Sometimes twice a day.
I do not understand how the router can freeze the Q box preventing it to turn on/causing it to freeze. Had a BT router previously had NO issues. I do not why Sky have not taken onboard this issue and tried to get it resolved with a hardware update. There is clearly an issue which has been ongoing for sometime now.

I will seriously have to consider giving up Sky and looking elsewhere to get my TV service if this issue is not resolved soon.

Re: Sky Q lock ups with EE router

Hi, the only way I have got this comibination to work is by ditching the netwoirk cable and using the lower spec compatability wifi..

Re: Sky Q lock ups with EE router

I cancelled EE after they refused to go back the the BT router their engineer said would stop the Sky Q box crashing (over 5 years without any problems).

Sky broadband deal was cheaper than EE with no change in performance. No crash since changing months ago.

I firmy believe the EE firmware change in April caused our Sky box to freeze at least once a week, often more.
