Sky Q freezing
Started about 6 weeks ago - if the box was left overnight or for a few hours it would freeze up. Spoke to Sky and the resolution was the box needed to be replaced (it was over 15yrs old!).
Within the first day of the new box going in the same was happening. Used new power cable and HDMI also.
We currently have a Sky Broadband hub which is split 2.4/5ghz and has been for a while. The only newbie to the mix is Sky fibre.
Have tried reboots, network resets, router resets and finally have an engineer coming out in a few weeks.
I however am like a dog with a bone on this one and determined to resolve it. Possible next step is reserved IP address.
Any thoughts would be more than welcome. Its just the 1 Q box and no mesh involved.
Thanks

Sky Q was released in early 2016, so presumably the previous box was Sky+

So one remaining common factor would be the dish cable: there are conditions such as water penetration which can crash a Sky box.

Re: Sky Q freezing
Ah now that is interesting hopefully that will be checked and not one I can fix my end 😉
Yes previous was SkyQ - that was how old the Sky advisor said but it would have been from the first release as I remember waiting patiently at the time LOL

Re: Sky Q freezing
I've just come off the phone to Sky exactly same problem. I suggested maybe an update to the box caused this as it's happening to my mates as well. Same answer as yours, old boxes need replacing but I suspect same problem when new boxes arrive

Still just over ten years ago ; )
The main advantage of the subsequent variations (2017 -2019) is that they support HDR: the first release didn't.

Re: Sky Q freezing
It's funny as my first thought as well is a software issue but then you would think sky would be aware of multiple reports the same

Re: Sky Q freezing
Just adding in to this - thinking about it, it all started when our Broadband Hub factory reset itself out of the blue. I wonder if something is related and causing a glitch. Possibly try a factory reset and see if there is no freezing before splitting the bands again?
