Sky Q With LG CX - Picture Freezing - Stuck In A Reset Loop
I have a LG CX which is coming up to 3yrs old, I have a Sky Q Box & Blu-Ray Player Connected through a Yamaha AV Reciever & a PS5 connected straight to the TV. In the last few weeks when watching Sky the picture will freeze and the TV will go into some sort of reset mode. Sometimes it will reset it's self after a couple of minutes but a lot of the time I have to switch off power to the whole set up and restart everything to get the picture back. Sometimes we go nearly a day without a problem then other days we can end up reseting everything four of five times in the space of an hour. I have contacted LG as I know they did a software update recently and they don't know of any conflict between them and the Sky Q box. It only happens when watching Sky I have no problem with my PS5 or streaming apps. I have done a reset settings via the engineer mode on the Sky Box & also taken my AV Reciever out of the loop and connected my Sky Q box straight to the TV and I still have the same problem. Could this be a faulty box or is there a known software conflict between the Sky Q Box & LG TV's ?

Yes, bought a brand new TV. If you are unfortunate to have the same tv the CX it's a known problem with them. They have even been recalled in other countries, basically the mother board is cheap and the problem is they easily get fried, eventually after a while it will go pop & the TV will no longer work. Tried speaking to LG & they were not interested as the CX has never been recalled in the UK. They did offer a service where you pay for them to try & repair it with no guarantee & from what I found out it's with inferior parts & the TV would never really be as good.

Thanks for the reply. The odd thing is that when the Xbox is used or the TV with discovery plus or Disney plus it's fine. It's just when why is used it will freeze and then shut off. Really hard to replicate though so any testing would show fine.
Cheaper to get rid of sky 😂

Mine was fine with my PS5 & any streaming service it was just with the Sky Q. I initially thought it may be a software conflict as the TV had recently had an update which is why I originally contacted LG. But when I dug around a bit I found out the problems with that model, as I said it started getting worse & worse & then one day a large pop & it never worked again. Shame really as it was a really good TV.

It's a great TV, and I too have read the mother board issues . What I can't work out is why it's just with Sky content. I have changed the HDMI port, but it's the same. I have also disconnected The HDMI CNC or Samplink as LG call it but still no luck.
if it was the TV just been on, then it would be with the apps as well, so it has to be linked to the information coming from a USB but the Xbox is via usb and that's fine .
im going to try and get another Q box and see if i can narrow it down any . Thanks though.

I changed the Sky Q box as well thinking that could be the problem but it continued. I bought new HDMi cables, I tried everything including the suggested work around by changing settings on the TV. I assure you if you have the same TV it is going to breakdown. It's a great TV but with a cheap motherboard. Yep it's strange that it only affects it when watching the Sky box but you are going through exactly the same as me so sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if it continues how mine did it will just go pop & stop working all together.
