Hi I am booked in for Sky Q installation in a few weeks. I do not have a Sky Dish and have seen in the contract that they are only installed if it is a standard installation. Can anybody tell me what a Standard installation is for a Sky Dish to be fitted.
thanks

As long as there's brick or block underneath then that should be fine. There will be four holes for dish bolts, one ladder safety bolt hole lower down (which gets capped) and then a cable entry hole all the way inside.

I am not sure what the full description is but genenerally I think it means it can be done so the dish is easily accessible via standard ladders and the engineer can drill hole to be able to use a bolt to secure the ladder - e.g. no special cladding and no longer on flat roofs or extreme height (although occasionally for straight forward extra height they do sometimes use a special heights team)
Although some properties are unsuitable I think this is uncommon

The installers seem to run away from cladding rather than charge more, if you live in a flat the installation may be more complicated but still the standard charge.

I am moving house on the 22nd July. The new house does not have a Sky dish. I have completed the notification to Sky that I am moving house and given the new address. There has been no questions regarding if the new house has a dish, or any questions asking me if I need one. I am a little worried that my Sky will be activated remotely, no engineer will come to install a dish that they don't know I need, I will have to contact Sky after a week of waiting, then wait for an appointment with an Engineer to fit a dish. I have moved house before with Sky and no Engineer has arrived to fit a dish, it was all done remotely. Should I be talking to someone? If so how?

You'll need an engineer appointment for such a move. Give Sky a call to confirm that is the case.

Notifying Sky of a change of address isn't necessarily the same thing as booking the Home Move service: which did you do?
Note there's no such thing as 'remote activation' of satellite television: that's a concept relating to broadband. A Q television box previously used elsewhere can be transferred to a different dish as long as there's a compatible LNB in place with no 'activation' being required: the box was activated when first set up.

OK, Ive just looked at my account and It says Ive got an Engineer visit booked for the 23rd, but I didnt ask for it, it never gave me the opportunity to.
I'm now trying to figure out how to contact Sky to actually talk to someone, so that they can confirm that an Engineer is actually going to be there on the 23rd to fit the new dish.

hi @Paul4750
it is standard for them to book engineers with SKY Q TV home moves
If you have the MY SKY app I think you may be able to find a number there - especially if you are a SKY VIP member
If not go this page & scroll to the bottom and expand the link need more help & scroll down

If you have SKY Mobile or SKY Talk land line then I think you can also call 150
