We have had this current Sky Q Box for maybe 15 years +
There is no comparison between Sky programs (Non UHD) and iplayer/ITV+ (non UHD) channels. Sky lacks focus, whereas other channels mentioned above are sharp, excellant colours etc. When you compare UHD channels, then Sky still comes off worse compared with BBC iplayer and ITV+. Wifi extender box is about 4ft distance, excellent wifi signal in the low hundreds of mbps.
Who is responsible for the sky box, me as the customer or Sky, I'm thinking if this sky box needs replacing, who is respionsible. If the answer to that is me, then would a new box be benificial?

The Sky Q boxes were only released in 2016 so it will be 8 years old at the most. The box is rented from Sky so you can contact them for a replacement if you think that is needed. However if your current box is working they may charge.
A new box is unlikely to make any difference but a new HDMI cable might, it's also worth checking your TV's settings, most TVs now have separate pictrure settings for each input. It perhaps needs a bit more sharpness or higher colour. You may also need to check your HDMI settings and switch to Enhanced Mode to support UHD/HDR properly (this will vary depending on your TV make/model).

As @xenon81 indicates, that would have to be a Sky+ or Sky+ HD box, in which case you own it
Sky Q was released on February 9th 2016, and all Q boxes are loaned by Sky. There have been three Q hardware releases (roughly 2016, 2017 and 2019), but Sky doesn't swap out boxes by default and the changes aren't particularly significant apart from the v1 2TB doing UHD but not HDR (which was added in the v2 release)
