Hi @Lorraine+C+C

Most TV Suppliers still charge extra for HD.

The Sky Q Sports pack and TNT Sport if you subscribe through Sky are in HD as Standard.
Sky Cinema if you subscribe is also in HD.
Sky Signature includes BoxSets and Entertainment channels only in SD as standard.
Only free to air channels such as BBC, ITV etc are in HD. The Q HD pack is required for all other Sky Signature HD content, including Catch Up in HD, On Demand in HD and BoxSets in HD
If you do not have the Optional HD pack you need to change the Download to SD in All Formats (as HD is the default setting).
So that you do not need to do this every time it’s best to change your Download preference to SD in Home - Settings - Setup - Preferences.
This needs to done on the main Q box.
Then if you want to download any HD content from free to air channels (BBCHD ,ITVHD etc) you can select HD in the All formats tab of the content . This will change the format for that particular download only but still leave your format to SD in preferences.

By being optional it gives customers a choice as to whether to pay for it or not - many do still not wish to pay extra for whatever reason

hi @Tom+Shinkwin

Whilst SKY Sports in the UK is in HD as standard, the billing  still lists SKY Sports Pack & SKY Sports HD separately and charged separately - the combined  cost should, however,  come to the price advertised/agreed.

In the UK you cannot reduce the amount by opting to not have the Sports HD add on

Re: Sky Hd

No I am in the UK.  I arranged a rolling contract on sky sports yesterday and got told £27 then I see an extra charge of Sky Sports HD for £2. Waiting for an answer from Sky

hi @Lorraine+C+C

I refer you to my post just above - SKY Sports HD  add on is charged separately but, in the UK,  the combined price you are charged should be what you agreed for SKY Sports (.e..g. if signed up for SKY Sports at £27 then if you see £2 for SKY Sports HD  then you should  be charged £25 for SKY  Sports)

Just checking - use it for what? You do understand that there's no point calling them?

@Lorraine+C+C if you have been quoted £27.00 and you see Sky Sports HD at £2.00 then it's correct.

I was quoted £20.00 but I'm on an 18 month contract but the price I was quoted is the price I'm paying

Hi @Lorraine+C+C   There is no need to call Sky, just have a look at future bills on your Sky Q box. In the UK you cannot get Sky Sports not in HD. The split of costs shown in the billing is simply from their legacy billing systems.
