Selected channels not working

Have had the sky box disconnected for 24 hours, on reconnecting not all channels showing (itv, channel 4, some of the U channels, alibi, comedy channel) but only selected. Tried help but no luck

@Kelsley

Any error message when you try to view these channels?

hi @Kelsley

The first thing to check is that both cables are fully connected.

Is it possible that one of the connecters has been knocked causing any of the thin strands of the outer braiding to come into contact with the central solid core wire ?

After that :

Please see the following page that covers a few problems - if you follow the link through and still have problems then you should find a link to book an engineer if you have your own dish

If you have a communal system you may have to contact your building management to deal with the technicians responsible for the system

This channel is currently affected by a problem with your satellite signal

@Kelsley
If you’re seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment or possibly a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish) so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth noting that:

▪️ a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels

▪️ a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

Sounds like @nigea99 has suggested the most likely issue, check the dish cable connectors on the back of your Sky Q

Hi @Kelsley

When you disconnected and reconnected the two satellite dish cables you could quite possibly have bent the central copper conductor in the F connector.

The central conductor should be completely straight and central in the housing.  It should not be bent or touching any part of the connector housing or screen.

It should also protrude by 2 - 3 mm out of the connector.
