Replacement sky q 2tb how to move your recordings

Can you move your recordings from a sky q to to a new sky q 2tb.

You can re-download anything bought from Sky Store or still available on catchup services of course.

Okay thanks. It seems wrong somehow. Especially if you got some really good hard to find recordings.

It's intentional. The copyright law exemption for this is only for "time shifting" watching live content, not for creating long term copies so they have no incentive to support transferring perfect digital recordings (was never an issue with VHS as the quality was so bad). One might argue the law isn't fit for purpose when there is media that gets orphaned but that's a different conversation.

Yes I agree. My TV has a USB slot for recording TV, but not on a USB stick ! A hdd is required but can't be used with any other device! It will format your hdd first and you can then record to it. If you connect with another device it will format again to use on another device therefore loosing all recordings! Such complications. On the VHS it was so easy  .... the good old days .... lol
