Pixilation lines/picture breakup

Usually i get a message of there was a problem connecting to the main box message which is there for 5-10 seconds before picture comes back. somedays its not so bad, other days its just unwatchable and worthless. the only thing its good for is connecting to one of the actual streaming channels. none of them have an issue at all. Well apart from the odd picture break-up (goes pixalated or has pixalted lines across) for a couple seconds but it does that with the main box as well. Only time we ever had that with the old service (pre skyQ) was very bad heavy rain weather, but you would also lose total service so could just switch to freeview. Ever since engineer came none of the TV's will work with freeview now. So if sky goes off we lose total service (no fallback). According to the sky guy that set it up - you wont need nothing else.

OK there's a lot going on there but this sounds like a totally different problem than this thread is about. Hopefully an admin can split this one out.

The lack of freeview - was this after a switch from sky+ or HD? is probably down to them not connecting the aerial cable that would have passed through the old hox and that is no longer supporter. You can just reconnect what uses to be the in and out cables. The fact they didn't do this is poor.

freeview on the others - I didn't think skyHD would take the incoming freeview signal and send it out on its RF2 cable, so maybe you had some kind of distribution box after the HD box RF1 out? That should still work once reconnected.

but you should not be losing the satellite signal, certainly not on the main box.

Thanks Kev. Is it possible to rename it to get some attention from someone who might know more about sat signal breakup?

Yes we had Freeview on system before we upgraded to SkyQ (all TV's) we now only have skyQ service.

The Main box works but the extra box's have constant issues - There was a problem connecting your skyQ box to the main. Thats 1 issue we get with them constantly.

The other is you could be watching a program on one of the extra box's and it will jump back 5 seconds and repeat whats just been played, it can freeze or even hang (when it hangs with a still picture) you MUST change channels and then go back but this all starts all over again.

The box's can just also come up with a blue screen but you can hear the talking behind or the sound will dissapear but the programs will play so you still have picture. This happens on all the skyQ box's and its very annoying. Thing is, apart from the recent Netflix not logging in issue, all the other actual streaming channels we have are fine (Paramount+, Amazon Prime, AppleTV+, Disney+) and even when netflix finally connects it runs fine without hitch's.

Hmm i have just gone to Apps on the upstairs SkyQ box and there's only Peacock in there now? Where did everythign vanish to? Reactivating and all that right now see if they come back

Seen that happen before

so you should have a freeview aerial cable still, just not connected to the box (Q has no socket for that)

And you should have an outgoing cable going to the main TV or the other TVs? Does freeview already work on those? Normally you would split that in the loft and have it go to the different rooms from there.

anyway you can connect those two cables to each other directly, or just plug the aerial into the main TV to at least get freeview on that one.

the rest sounds like weak wifi connections

Re: Pixilation lines/picture breakup

got a cable and its plugged into the TV (Aerial), when i go to try freeview it says weak or no connection.

Anyways, i think i did somethign wrong, since i got tired of the SkyQ mini box freezing up, repeating the last 3 seconds of what its just done before dropping service with a - There was a problem connecting your minibox to the main box waiting 5 seconds or so for it to come back for it to just constantly repeat.

I followed what was said and in settings hit the reset internet connection with this box, step 1 says press the . key to continue, this then says hold a button on the box untill it flash's. Thing is this button is already flashing after a while it pops up with unsuccessful connection. trying again i hold that button in for over a minute to just get the same message. right now after an hour i just cannot get past stage 2 at all.

You have to go and press that button on the next closest Sky equipment. It's a 2 device sync mechanism, to get them to connect to each other. Both have to start flashing and then in theory they can find each other.
