Perplexing Sky Hub

After many months of wonderful service, my Sky hub stopped connecting and I was informed I would require a Sky booster but was given no reason as to what this had happened and all of a sudden I needed a booster and I'm finding this really perplexing!! Could somebody put me out of my misery by explaining why one day the hub was was working fine and then the next it wasn't but there wasn't anything technically wrong with it? I'm blonde and find this sort of dilemma very frustrating!!!  I've tried numerous searches and all I can find is that the signal couldn't have been strong enough, but it was obviously strong enough the day before it stopped working!!!! Please help!!!
