Pairing TCL 55P8L-UK

I recently bought a new TCL TV which isn't listed on the their pairing list. It pairs using a couple of the number options that will allow me to adjust the volume but that's about it. I've tried various other manufacturers as mentioned here and elsewhere but I can't get any further.

The other weird thing is that when I switch the sky q box on the TV doesn't come on, I've checked the settings and it should but it doesn't.

Will I have to live with the torment of having to use two remote controls or is there an easy fix that I'm missing?

What are you expecting to control as that's about it anyway...  (Volume up/down and power)

Ensure the Sky box and TV have their HDMI CEC settings on.  When you hit the Sky/Home button then the Sky box will attempt to send a power on signal over the HDMI when the TV is in standby.
