No satellite signal

My signal keeps going on my Sky Q box , I  have had two new boxes 4 engineer visits , it's a communal dish and none of the other residents have issues, the cables have been checked as has the IRS , it's works fine for a week or so things goes off, rebooting does not help either , we have sky q and 3 mini boxes

hi @Collender

As you may have gathered this is probably one of the hardest situations to track down & fix & probably very little we can help with.  Especially so, when it seems to work when the engineers visit.

As you probably know the distribution system is the responsibility of your housing management/the providers of it.

Just a couple of thing that might give us a slimmer of hope for assisting :

Do you know if the system is SKY Q compliant (i.e. capable of responding to the dSCR requests) itself or does it rely on an 'adapter fitted in the distribution system ?

If the latter do you have a small PSU supplying power up the cable ?

I will tag our kind expert @Godfrey in case he can offer any advice

Re: No satellite signal

Thanks, the management company sent someone out a week or so ago and fixed it, it seems strange it's only my flat affected , I'm not sure of the details but will check to see what system it is

Re: No satellite signal

I should mention it's gone off again now, after they fixed it last week , there appears to be no reason why or no specific time of day, why is it only mine

Re: No satellite signal

Apologies I should also mention it's been working fine for the past 3.5  years

@Collender  Is it possible to post a clear photograph showing the equipment that is fitted within the central communal Integrated Reception System cabinet.

This would help us understand exactly what type of communal multiswitch is providing your satellite signal and if it has a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor fitted, which would either require local powering or remote powering from a 'Power Inserter' in each Sky Q subscribers flat.

As different versions of Sky Q receiver have not all got the same capacity to supply power to communal multiswitches / dCSS adaptors, what is the hardware version of your present main Sky Q receiver.

Godfrey.

@Collender  Considering how many engineering visits from Sky have already failed to find out what exactly is causing this problem, and the claim that your communal engineers have also attempted to resolve this issue, plus the historical fact that we have had multiple problems reported when a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor is not correctly powered................and the fact that no problems have been found with the satellite transponder signal quality............... If you cannot obtain access to your central IRS distribution cabinet to take a clear photograph of the actual multiswitch equipment, or find out if your communal IRS installation is using either a dSCR multiswitch or a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor................. You might consider it worthwhile to look on ebay for a Sky SP161 Power inserter, and risk investing around £16 including postage in a second hand device which could well enable you to instantly resolve this type of problem by inserting a Sky SP161 Power Inserter between your Sky Q receiver and the communal IRS distribution wall plate.

Obviously, it would turn out to be a total waste of money if your IRS installation is not reliant upon correctly powering a Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug-In adaptor or if that adaptor is already correctly powered locally within that cabinet, but on the other hand,  if you cannot easily establish exactly what type of multiswitch is providing your satellite transponder signals, it might provide you with an instant reliable resolution to your present problem.
