Re: No satellite signal on certain programs
Hi @Th36
If you are new to the forum then welcome to the Community which is predominantly made up of Sky customers helping other Sky customers. You aren’t actually talking to Sky by posting on here.
If you are seeing any kind of ”No satellite signal” related message, check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely either;
▫️a dish misalignment,
▫️a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish),
▫️water getting into the cabling,
▫️it is currently raining very heavily (in which case see if it returns to normal when it eases.)
So check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.
If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company or landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact direct.
Additionally:
🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),
🔹 a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

BTW it is worth noting that those channels are on probably the weakest transponder for reception in the UK & Ireland - it a Euopean wide targetted beam, rather than a UK specific beam that most are

Re: No satellite signal on certain programs
I have no trouble with these channels for many many years.....This has only happened in the past month. I dont feel your answer is a good enough response as to why this is happening only now!!

Sounds like your alignment has moved out just enough in the last month.

As I mentioned the channels you have said you are having problems with are some of the weakest signals ine the UK and Ireland and thus any slight deterioration of the cables /LNB or very slight movement of the LNB as highlighted by @Daniel0210 could result in loss of these channels & these channels will be the first to show any problems.
I am not quite sure what other explanation you are expecting.

Nevertheless as customers on here that is the likely reason. It's something we advise about on here on an almost daily basis.

Re: No satellite signal on certain programs
BTW I have just turned my multisatellite dish over to 28.2 and taken some status readings:
U&W Level 76 Quality 8.9dB
BBC 2 Level 70 Quality 8.2dB
E4 Level 70 Quality 9.0dB
By contrast both GB News & CNN (As I mentioned on the same transponder)
Level 55 Quality 7.1dB
As you can see these are much weaker
