No ip address obtained

I had the same problem.

Read through all the threads including this one.

Tried nearly everything and couldn't understand why my broadband router was allocating Ip address 0.0.0.0.

Then just as a guess, swapped around the ends of my ethernet cable !

Even though both go in, I now had the yellow one going into the yellow port of my router.

Worked a treat so thought I would share, in case anyone else is struggling.

So hope it helps someone out there, good luck !
