No Satellite Signal
I've had a no satellite signal for over 8 hours. I went onto skys automated help and already did everything it suggested. I was then advised to get an engineer visit which I arranged for 2 days later on Sunday (earliest date available and will cost me £15) . I then found out a few people in my area were having the same problems. I then called sky to cancel the engineer visit as It was obviously a bigger all over outage. The sky rep knew nothing of any problems and wasn't aware if the problem could be to do with the unusualy hot and humid weather. He tried to get me an engineer to visit but I said I'm not paying £15 for something that is happening to other people as well. I said I will use sky go and see if the problem fixes itself when a break in the weather happens. (tomorrow). Dissapointed with the overall experience and hope some sort of bill reduction will happen after all I pay a fortune for there service!

Re: No Satellite Signal
It's the same satellite signal broadcast from the same satellite transponders for the whole of the UK. There's no such thing as a local outage. If it was a broadcast issue, all UK subscribers would be affected. Poor weather such as heavy rain or snow can cause reception problems.

If you have your own dish then the most likely explanation is your dish.

Satellite Signals do not just affect one area of the country, the only thing that affect more localised loss of signal is very thick cloud cover such as thunderstorms & then usually only last a max of an hour
If there had been a major transmission problem these boards would be full of reports
BTW I have never heard of hot/humid weather causing problems either

Re: No Satellite Signal
For the last 3/4 years we've lost our sky signal during the daytime, if the weather is very hot.
I've had Sky engineers out 3 times. The first time we changed to sky q, but other two times they couldn't find an issue. Whenever I called I was told the heat shouldn't affect the signal, so since then we just use streaming apps while it's off.
It's v frustrating

Heat won't affect the signal but it's quite possible that the temperature causes the metal to expand and move slightly out of alignment.

Re: No Satellite Signal
Yeah sounds like the signal on that dish is on the cusp to begin with. Never had an issue in hot weather.

Re: No Satellite Signal
Hi all, thanks for all your replies. I had to get the sky engineer out in the end and it turned out there was a short in the cable joint. So nothing to do with hot humid weather....just a coincedence 😀
