New tv

I have now got  a Sony TV K43S3. Is there any way I can switch on and control the sound levels with my Sky Remote? I would prefer not to have to use 2 remote controls.  I think I have Sky Q although I did have a new router recently butthink that was i went to fibre.

The instructions mean choose the letters from the set of A-Z and 0-9, not to put that actual sequence in, but I think you figured that out 🙂

and yeah as nigea says you just enter sony (or part of it) and then it should appear on the right as a search match and you can press the right arrow to choose it and then you do the same for the model

To be honest, it's a bit of a clunky way of searching.

@6seaholly42 Try resetting your remote.
Press the buttons 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then press 1 & 3 together until the led flashes twice then follow onscreen instructions to repair the remote.

Re: New tv

I can follow your advice but can you reassure me that I will be able to follow the on screen instructions? I am not  technically minded and don't always  understand the words and wouldn't like to be left without a working remote.  Sorry to be such a wimp.

hi @6seaholly42

The only thing you need to be aware of, is that after pressing & holding 7 & 9 to reset the remote,  the remote must have line of sight of the box until pressing & holding the 1 & 3 to start the pairing  process.

If the 1 & 3 fails (unlikely) then you the remote would remain in Infrared mode,  needing to always have line of sight

You'll be fine. I did this yesterday for someone. The 1&3 had to be repeated bit it worked fine the second time. It has very simple instructions.

Re: New tv

I will do it later today, I have family coming for lunch, and I want to have a relaxed, unhurried time . I will respond later.

Re: New tv

I eventually got to Enter brand of TV but couldn't  place that in the box on the right, it continued after (A..........).

I then got the message Unfortunately your TV not currently supported. Please use your TV remote control. I guess because there was no brand name in the right hand box.

Please, how do I enter SONY, or SONY K43S3 in the right hand column whilst using the letters from  scrolling up and down the column.

hi @6seaholly42

Probably best  not try to tab right until Sony appears towards the top of the list on the right

After selecting the S just scroll down to the O and press the enter/select button - you can then scroll up and select N (or now try tab right & then down to select Sony)

Once you have selected Sony  best to select Find it for me rather than enter the specific model

Then just follow the onscreen instructions - hopefuully the one of the first tries will work with your TV

Hi @6seaholly42   The chances are that all Sony TVs still use the same remote codes. So don't worry about finding an exact match. Just pick one close to K-43S3 (remember to put in the "-"). On my universal remote I am still using the remote code from 1990 on my 2023 TV.

Re: New tv

Nooooo. I input every letter and then every number  and when that didn't work I input exactly what the instruction said ie (A-Z) (0-9)......

Dimwit that I am. I am not technically minded and it didn't say 'Input the name of your TV'.

I will report my success in due course. But not tonight.  Thank you for your patience.

on the first screen just enter / select Sony - do not try to add the model at this stage

When you have selected Sony you should get 2 options one to enter your model number (which, as I mentioned, I suggest you don't use) and 'Find it for me'

Re: New tv

Yippee, I can now turn my TV on and control the volume with the Sky remote. My thanks to you all.  Just one more question. Is it also possible to turn the TV off completely with the Sky remote?
