As the title says, we are having problems with netflix mobile app not being able to stream to the Sky Q boxes as they no longer appear in the "connect to" menu. This is the same on all mobile devices, although the Netflix apps have been reinstalled. I've reset the sky box from the engineers menu and reset the Netflix app. On the master sky Q box. All boxes and mobile devices are connected to the same network. The Netflix app on the sky Q box works fine and is logged into the same account as the mobile devices. I've removed the account and reconnected it. The youtube mobile app can still see the sky boxes, but netflix cannot. All network connections are working fine with no issues with any other sky Q online feature. I don't what more I can do, but it's extremely annoying as its a feature I use very often.

SKY Q boxes do not work for casting from mobile devices for video

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWhat are you trying to do? If you want to watch Netflix on your mini boxes then you simply fire up the app on the mini - no mobiles involved...?
as above you can only cast audio.

I'm Autistic and find the whole sky Q netflix app, clunky, disorganised and very frustrating, as is having to use the remote to find what I'm looking for. I use the mobile app as I find it a whole lot easier and convenient to use. Also, the remote often goes missing, which is why I also use a sky q remote app on my phone.

Yes they do, I've been casting from the Netflix app to both the master box and mini boxes since I've had Q.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou can do this. It doesn't cast, it basically takes control of the netflix app on the Sky box. Don't know why it's not working for the OP.

YouTube can do the same: as you say, it's not 'casting' but the detection of another app instance on the same local network with the option of triggering that with the same content.
Have you tried the full reboot sequence: router, main Q box, any Mini Q boxes, Netflix app client device?
Is the Netflix device definitely using WiFi and not cellular data?

@nigea99 No need to apologise, Everyday's a schoolday 😉

@TimmyBGood Yes. Tried everything. I've been researching the issue for over a week now and tried every bit of advice I've found. All mobile devices are all using WiFi as I can still do the same with youtube and use my phone as a network Q remote. The mobile client has been removed and reinstalled on all devices.

@Chodley Already have. As a former ADSL engineer, I have done everything router, IP, DNS related.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIP and DNS shouldn't be a factor. It's using SSDP advertising broadcast all over the local network, and I think this applies to all apps not just Sky's own services for Go.
Do you have any hardware in the network that could block that?
22 Mar 2023 04:15 PM
@Chodley No, not at all. I know about SSDP but I'm that desperate, I've tried everything and anything I can think of.

Did anyone have a fix for this? I am having the same issue. It used to work, but has now stopped.
