My remote doesn’t seem to be working

I am able to change channel but it's not letting me press the back button,volume button and turn my tv off. At first I thought it was batteries so they go changed but still not working and I feel like I am having to make sure I am more angle to the box

I finally managed to reset box and reset the remote which I had tried a few times and it's working now
