Some channels only broadcast in HD. I find this frustrating as recorded programmes then take up too much memory! Some programmes I can record on the +1 channels which are broadcast in SD, but not all channels have the +1 option. I am disappointed that Discovery/History no longer have +1 options.

It's hard drive space, not memory /pedant

 

You can get a LOT of HD recordings in even 1TB.

HD bitrates are much lower now than they used to be, recording in SD over HD doesn't save a great deal of memory.

@NellJ have you looked at the channels starting from 805 upwards as they are all SD channels, Sky History on 821 is in SD and 823 which is Discovery in SD so record these channels if you want SD
