Update: after many, many attempts at rebooting the mini box and following the changing settings route, along with other things, I found the main box had gone over to Eco standby mode. I changed the standby mode to active, just like the mini box and everything has been stable for 5 days.

My main box has always been on Eco mode and I've never seen this message. What a strange problem. Glad you've got it stable.
