Incompatible with Sony

I have a fairly new Sky Q box and the Sony Bravia isn't that old either. I switch the TV on and then use the Sky remote, the TV then switches itself off, the Sony logo comes on and then the Android logo and then you have to start again. This process takes about 4 minutes. It happens most of the time, but not all. Also you can be watching a programme for a few mins and it will then switch itself off. Anyone else had this?

And you're not holding down the power button on the Sky remote?

@tom-jerry1971A short press on the Q controller should turn the Sky box to standby a slightly longer press and it should turn the TV to standby BUT press too long and it restarts the TV, at least it does with my Sony.

Your other problem could be due to the standby settings on your TV either turn it off or set it for as long as possible as the TV does not see it is in use when using a Q box and times out.

Make sure HDMI control (CEC) is turned on in both the Q box (it is on by default) and TV so the Q controller turns your TV on/off.

Re: Incompatible with Sony

Thanks for this, I'll check these things. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, I'll check those settings you mentioned 🙂

Re: Incompatible with Sony

I have the same problem. TV restarts are random and very annoying

Going to need a lot more information / detail to offer any advice.

Re: Incompatible with Sony

Ok

I'll provide details

Sky Q box

Hardware version: 32B206

Software version: Q210.000.06.03L (5k4107v)

connected via HDMI cable to:

Sony Bravia

Model: KD-43XF7596

Kernel version 4.9.125

All software is up to date

There is a Samsung soundbar connected to the TV via toslink.

TV randomly restarts from time to time. There is no pattern to it. However, it tends to happen more often shortly after turning Sky box and TV on.

The audio stops first then the second later TV restarts.

TV worked without any issues with SKY+ box.

I hope that's enough details? If not please let me know what else you'd like to know.

Although it's perhaps worth noting that's a 2018 model.

@DJMM1

Nope, I'm just suggesting 'up to date' is a relative concept.

Re: Incompatible with Sony

@TimmyBGood  does that mean this year's TV use a different Android version/system??

My 2018 TV still gets regular updates; as far as I know, it is still fully supported.

From memory Sony have oscillated between Android TV, Google TV and their own Bravia OS, and I've lost track of which of those is current.

Re: Incompatible with Sony

@TimmyBGood  So your comment isn't in any way relevant to the subject and issues described.
I'm glad we go there in the end.  😜

I thought you will have some insight on different Android TV version and random restarts when in use with SkyQ

This is more or less exactly the same info here. It's so frustrating!
