I eventually got bored and hung up

I received a txt from Sky in April 24, offering me a £99 Sky Q box for free. I forgot about that. Then, I received a letter dated 23rd Oct, offering me the same thing. I rang the number on the 20th Nov. Three times I was placed on hold as the CS Assistant didn't know what I was talking about despite me quoting the lettter and, reading out anout 3 different references on the letter. After a total of 20 mins, I gave up and hung up. On the 25 Nov, I found the txt and phoned the number on that. All I wanted to do was to take up the offer and book an Engineer visit. They guy tried to offer me this, he tried to offer me that. He asked how many tv's in my house. One, I said. In that case we can offer you the Q box and some other box so you can watch on different tv's in the same house. But I only have one tv!!!!!! He started going on again. Again, I got bored and hung up. I lost the will to live. Why does it have to be so hard?

Re: I eventually got bored and hung up

Hiya, thanks. No, I made 2 x 0333 calls. I just assumed an 0800 number would/will be much of the same non helpfulness and trying to flog you something else as well.

I have one tv in my house. The only reason I phoned about the free Sky Q box was because Sky were saying that our old box would soon be "unsupported".

I don't want a cinema plan, I don't want a sports plan etc etc etc. I just want what I already want but with a Sky box that will be supported.

It seems that this is too much to ask.

Cheers 😁

@Teeboy11

Have you tried calling the 0800 number shown here:

https://www.sky.com/tv/sky-q

You don't need a multiscreen sub if you don't want a Sky Mini box in aother room or if you do not plan to watch your Sky Q recrdings back via the Sky Go app.

Despite what the letter implies, the lack of software updates is not currently an issue - SKY + boxes have not had any for a long time.

A couple of things to note. As mentioned if your Sky+HD Box is working fine, then there's no need to change unless you want to.

Secondly, all Sky Q boxes are loaned to customers free of charge, so the £99 saving being offered is the admin/setup fee.
