Signed into my discovery plus account on the app and linked it all up with the QR code
but when I try to watch anything it tells me I need to upgrade my subscription to watch discovery
A message also appears telling me to go back or retry ???

I've got the exact same issue, started about 3 days ago. I've not reported it as I'm about to go away for a couple of weeks. if there is a resolution I'd be grateful to hear it.
