Hi
I'm posting this on behalf of my neighbour. A Sky Engineer came out yesterday and advised that he connect his Sony Sound Bar via Optical cable due to syncing issues with the Sky Q box.
He has done this, however, now he gets the prompt "Fix Sound" when trying to use the Q remote and he is unable to control the volume.
Is anyone able to provide any suggestions on what to do to fix this?

I think we need to know the model of the Sound bar & also probably the make & model of the TV to be able to look up the error message and what might need to be done.
Is the Sound Bar connected to the TV via an HDMI cable also ?
Are you able to advise if the SKY Remote was 'paired' to just the TV or to both the Tv (switch on/off) & Sound Bar (volume) ?

It's a Sony TV and Sony Soundbar, he hasn't given me any other information other than that.
From what I understand he's using the optical by itself as he said he would go back to how it was set up for now.

I have to admit it is quite difficult to know what to advise without knowing
1) the actual models (so we can see if we can find the manuals online) and
2) also knowing how things were set up
3) all changes made subsequently
If the sound bar is not connected via an HDMI cable then the message must be coming from the TV and would indicate that the remote is 'paired'(i.e. set up to work with) just with the TV for both power & volume - which is usually OK when connected via and HDMI & the HDMI CEC controls (bravia Sync I think it might be called) on both units allowing the TV control the volume of the sound bar but if dsiconnected this would likely cause a problem such as the one indicated
There is an option to pair the remote to both the TV for on/off and Sound bar for volume (which he might need if using the optical route) - let us know if you think this is something he would like to try
