Connect wifi to sky q box

[MacGyver]

The connection to my wifi router is damaged (workman pulled it out of the back of the box and it got frayed and I'm not certain it still works).

Do I need a new one  or can I just unplug it because I have that wire running all along my skirting boards and could do without it.
