Cable

I am having sky q installed in a couple of weeks. I currently have two sky + multiscreen boxes that i am replacing with two sky q mini boxes. Can i ask the engineer to remove the existing cabling i have running to the two multiscreen boxes,or would this still have to be in place for the two sky q mini boxes?,as it would be good if i could lose this additional cabling if it is not needed.

hi @JN4

As you may have read SKy Q mini boxes do not have any cables from the dish so they are not needed.

SKY engineers would not normally remove any such cables although you can ask and depending on how much work they be amenable to do this for you.

The engineers will remove the connections at the dish end so if they don't have time or unwilling to remove the extra cables    then  anyone else who has suitable access (e.g. ladders where needed) could remove them for you.

BTW although you are proceeding with the switch  you may, still, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Sky typically don't remove satellite cabling because their installers aren't trained or equipped to 'make good' brickwork, plaster and paint.  If they do take a cable out then the most you could hope for is a squirt of silicone, which really isn't good enough for a hole through an outside wall.
