Booster for Sky Q mini box

I have redecorated my room and move the TV and Mini box 5 ft across the room. Now I keep losing signal and get a blue screen. Someone mentioned a booster but it doesn't seem to be an easy process. Does anyone know how I resolve this?

Hi @Twirly40

Sky will supply Q WiFi boosters free of charge to aid Q connectivity issues.

To help connect the mini it needs to be positioned approximately midway between the main Q box and the mini.

But how do you actually request one from Sky, I've been going round in circles on this

Re: Booster for Sky Q mini box

I called Sky when I had mini box connectivity issues and also had really intermittent wi-fi in one room.  I got the number after running tests on the mySky app and the results said there was a problem.  The person I spoke to was realy helpful, he ran a number of tests and agreed that there was an issue, and then sent me a booster to resolve it.  I had to pay a tenner for postage, but the booster arrived within 3 days and I have just connected  it!

Re: Booster for Sky Q mini box

I'm apparently a Sky VIP customer (over 25 years!!) and when I contacted Sky to ask for a replacement booster for my SkyQ Mini Boxes ( my current one has stopped working!) I was informed they wouldn't replace it as I'm not entitled to one because I don't have Sky Broadband (which I have never had) So much for being a VIP customer. I'm now researching to see if I can spend my £165 per month with another provider!!

They probably misunderstood. There are two types of booster. One is only for sky broadband.

VIP status isn't relevant: the key information is that Q boosters are loaned to non-Sky Broadband customers specifically when required to resolve Q television issues.

Re: Booster for Sky Q mini box

'VIP status isn't relevant' - Clearly not, if Sky are telling me I don't qualify for a replacement booster.

'Q boosters are loaned to non-Sky Broadband customers specifically when required to resolve Q television issues' - Clearly not as I was informed by the Sky Techie last week when 'we' spent an hour on the phone trying to connect both my SkyQ Mini boxes.

By the way I've missed half the F1 Grand Prix today (lossed connection) and the footy match has now lost connection!!

Back to listening to LBC on the radio!!

They were wrong.  Loan of Q boosters to non-Sky Broadband subscribers for the resolution of Q television issues has been routine practice for a decade, as your own previous experience clearly demonstrates.

Like I said there are two types of boosters and whoever you were talking to probably mixed that up or didn't know.

what's wrong with the old one?

Re: Booster for Sky Q mini box

The only LED that comes on is the power. The other two LEDs show nothing. Also the WiFi button does not light up when you press it.

The Sky Techie did also confirm it was dead, tried several resets to no avail 😞
