Not much consolation at this stage but, you are not alone, there are a range of issues with apps including black screen or pixelation and there are multiple threads on the forum covering this.
But, it doesn't seem to affect everyone or consistently. I believe Sky are working on future updates that will try to stop these issues, but until then I would recommend using another device (such as your TV), if possible, for app viewing.
Do check your box is up to date but beyond that, there isn't much you can do currently sadly.

Well that's wonderful, I don't have any other way to watch that the quality is any good, other devices are slow or small screens. Oh well I'll just have to put up with it

This is the exact issue i am getting! 4-5 times a day using Apps such as Disney, Paramount etc!! Sort it Sky!!

What about a Firestick plugged into a hdmi socket on the same TV?
