Apple TV cancel and re subscribe
I currently have Apple TV via a direct subscription from Apple purchased a couple of years back. I see now that as a VIP member I can get a 6 month free trial through sky.
Anyone know if I can just cancel the current subscription and then pretty much straightaway re subscribe via Sky to get it free for 6 months? Do I need to wait for a certain time to re subscribe? Will it mess everything up if I try to do this?

Re: Apple TV cancel and re subscribe
I've got a feeling it may not work regardless.
I remember last year ringing Apple with a similar query. (I had an Apple+ sub then and got a 6 months free offer when I bought an iPad Pro) The guy said that the 6 month offer was only available to new Apple+ subscribers so I couldn't make use of it.
However T&Cs may be different now so.....
I do know that when you cancel a sub on Apple it will say when exactly it will end (it won't end straightaway because you've paid in advance as part of the sub so will be entitled to receive it for rest of the billing period)
So cancel it and when it runs out try to use the Sky offer. If it works great! If not just resubscribe as before - you won't have lost anything.

Re: Apple TV cancel and re subscribe
Hi @macdougal1
When the Apple TV VIP offer first came out about a year ago, I already had an Apple TV subscription running that I was paying monthly directly to Apple. This also followed buying a new device about 6 months prior to that so got 3 months free.
I then went through with taking out the VIP offer linking to my existing Apple ID etc. and did wonder what would happen but was surprised to see that instead of my next due monthly subscription that was due in December last year that after activating the offer my next subscription was put back to June, e.g. I just got the free 6 months with no hassle.
This was a year ago, but hopefully nothing has changed.

Re: Apple TV cancel and re subscribe
Cheers - I did the same and my subscription is now showing that it ends in Feb 2025. It has added 6 months to my annual sub which due to end in Aug 2024

Re: Apple TV cancel and re subscribe
Just answering my own post here for reference purposes in case of any use to anyone.
I contacted Apple TV support with this query via live chat. The chap issued a promotional code to redeem through the App Store.
Done this and it automatically re starts the billing cycle with Apple showing on screen prompts and info confirming free for 6 months then back to normal thereafter. All seems good so no need to cancel re subscribe etc.
(screen shots and transcripts taken just in case!)
