Please do accept my sincere apologies..
I do seem to be annoying some posters on this site because I am repeating myself.
I am rather old, and I do find modern technology difficult to deal with at times but I do my very best.
Leaving aside the red button, pausing etc, I still do not understand why the only time I personally get these very annoying pop ups about Ultra HD is when I am watching a live football game on one of the Sky sports channels. As I said I was watching live USA tennis yesterday, on one of the Sky sports channels, on I think channel 407, and no pop ups at all.
Please could someone explain why I only get these pop ups when I am watching live football games and not when I am watching other live sport and also not when I am watching say ordinary television on for example BBC or ITV.
Once again. It is not my intention to annoy anyone as I do enjoy being on this site.
Regarding the high frequency of the pop ups , simply there is a bit of bug which is being looked into
As regards why only football - each red button implementation is different..

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Once again apologies for repeating myself.
I assume Sky are aware of this annoying issue and they will sort it out as soon as possible.

Presumably because almost nothing but football (apart from F1) is regularly simultaneously broadcast in HD and UHD, and so a pop-up on an HD channel advising of a UHD version wouldn't be relevant for the vast majority of content.
No 'ordinary television' from BBC, ITV or anyone else is carried in UHD as a scheduled broadcast, although Sky experimented with the occasional dual transmission back in the early days of Q.

Actually it's not annoying if you press the red button to watch a live football match.
I'd find it annoying if I've got to keep on pressing the dismiss button constantly when it's been explained to me numerous times if you press the red button you are watching the match live within the red button
So no more annoying red button popups
Have you actually tried the red button Live football match @middlesex1993 ?

Perhaps I did it wrongly. I pressed the red button and it did not work for me.
I and others just hope Sky can sort this out sooner rather than later .

I will try pressing the red button
One question and hopefully not a daft question. If you press the red button and you start watching the game can you record the game simultaneously.

I am watching Cambrjdge v Reading live on channel 403. I tried pressing the red button and a message came up.on the screen.
'There is a technical issue. Please try again later'.
I assume the red button only works when there is a choice of live games.
The dreaded pop up has appeared just once when I turned on the programme.
I waited for it to disappear and it has not come back again and about 45 minutes has passed. Good news

Hi @middlesex1993 it's not a daft question yes you can record and watch the game simultaneously when you watch via the red button
Watch in Ultra HD press red button
I've pressed red button whilst on Channel 403
Match now in UHD
Recording match in UHD pressed the Red Record button on the Sky Q Remote didn't want series link so pressed the record button twice to record once via Sky Q remote
So actually not a daft question @middlesex1993

Thanks for the replies
I still do not understand as per my above post, why the message came up saying there was a technical issue. Please try later. I assume that is not a fault with my Sky Q box but a fault at Sky.

Probably. What was the red button labelled with, or was it not showing the prompt at the time?

Chodley.
It was just after the pop up appeared. I am still not clear in my mind why the words, technical issues please try later appeared on my screen after pressing the red button.
I think I may have this correct but someone please let me know if I am wrong.
When you are watching a live game of football it seems to me the red button now serves two purposes.
1) To watch a particular game if more than one is being shown. That is the point of the red button. Yesterday it was just Cambridge v Reading so perhaps that was why the red button was not working.
2) It could have been the Ultra HD option was not working which is the other reason for pressing the red button.
Therein lies the problem I think. If this dreadful pop up persists when you are watching a live football game where there is no choice of games other than the one you are watching the red button solution will not work. The only solution would then be pressing the pause button for a few seconds and watching in affect a recorded game.
There is some good news. I started watching the Cambridge v Reading game last night. The dreaded pop up appeared on the screen as soon as I started watching the game. I pressed the back up button to get rid of it and it never appeared again for the rest of the game.
Finally. I know from this thread, the dreaded pop up is a widespread problem for many Sky viewers. However, I have spoken to people I know who also have Sky Q and when they watch live football the dreaded pop up does not appear at all or if it does, it appears just the once and never comes back. All very strange.

I've been advised by Sky that the problem should now be fixed with a software update having gone in over night.
could not test on football, but have checked with the Live US open tennis.
it appears that the dimming around the pop up has gone and that the pop up appears once for about 30 seconds, in this case, it was "Court Choice", but once it went, and it hasn't popped up again!
so hopefully it's fixed, but for me the real test will be during live football.
if it is fixed, thanks to all those who raised the complaint to Sky and thanks to those who advised about the short term fix.

BetterRelieved.
Hopefully that is good news.
I did raise this with Sky over the phone.
I never had an issue when I was watching live tennis over the last two days.
As you say. The real test will come with the live football.

I hope I am not tempting fate.
I am watching live US Open tennis on channel 401 and all good and no annoying pop ups re Ultra HD option.
I have never used red button until we had these pop up problems.
When I click on the red button to chose another game, is it correct when I am watching a game through the red button I can not pause or rewind as I would be able to do normally.
