£15 a month for free channels?

I have been a customer since 1997. I am being charged £15 a month and I only get the free channels ie BBC etc. Why is this? Would I not be better getting Freeview?

Sounds like you're on the Sky Essentials package which gives you access to free-to-air channels with recording capability on your Q box. That's what you're paying £15 for.

You could get Freeview instead if you have an aerial. It's free, funnily enough.

That's what Sky calls 'TV Essentials': Freesat on a Q box with access to recording/playback and apps.

They don't really market this: did you perhaps choose to move to it to save cost?

Or if you don't have a terestrial aerial you could use your existing dish for Freesat BUT if you do then you would have to change the LNB in the dish or buy a 4K freesat box.

Hi @Gillvt   You are basically renting the box and getting support including a free replacement if it breaks down. The alternative is to buy a 4K Freesat box using the same LNB. You can buy one for about 17 months of renting one from Sky but are liable for the cost of breakdowns etc.
