Smart Tech

My Sky Protect cover ended and I renewed the cover yet most of of the Smart Tech features no longer work like recording, person detection and auto arming.

I spoke to someone on the chat and they told me that once my first year's cover ends the smart tech support ends with it and is discontinued.

Seems crazy that this tech only last one year. It's now completely useless and has to be binned.

The reason I got the insurance was the smart tech that came with it.

If you have restarted your Sky Smart home insurance cover, your Smart Protect bundle should also be reinstated.

Re: Smart Tech

Had it confirmed via Email today.

Smart Tech is now a legacy product and support is no longer available for those renewing cover.

They said I can keep the tech but that's pointless as it effectively just a streaming camera that does nothing as there's no longer alarts or cloud storage.

A doorbell camera, indoor camera, motion sensor, 2 contact sensors and 3 leak detectors that serve no purpose and have to be binned.

I think this is utter madness.

I'd imagine it implies that the 'Smart' insurance hasn't been as successful as Sky and/or their insurance underwriters hoped, and they've taken a commercial decision accordingly.  Not renewing individual policies at the end of a year is rather preferable to ceasing cover arbitrarily.

Incidentally the product launched in May 2023 so early adopters will have had three years usage.
