reference number
My phone was apparantly damaged and needed to be disposed of according to dpd so i have contacted sky and have a reference number as they are investigating this. I just wondered if there was a way i could see the status of my case or if i just have to wait for an unknown amount of time.

So just to clarify ~ this was a mobile DPD we're set to deliver to you and they told you your mobile needed disposing not Sky? They should return it to Sky for them to decide that.

Yup suspicious isnt it. I have obvs reported this to sky as i am left without my new device and i have a reference number for it im just wondering if there is a way to check or if i just have to wait for sky to be in touch which could be awhile?

You would need to initiate contact with Sky to see if they have any updates on your issue. Like you say it may take a while for DPD / Sky to investigate.
