If you order the Sky sim for him via your account then you will both have shared access to the piggybank you have currently on your account.
This link explains how he needs to get a pac code from his current network to give to Sky to transfer his number once the Sky sim you order for him has been activated:

Buy the Sky sim (and phone)
Activate the sim when it arrives but do not put it in the phone, so keep his current sim in it.
Get pac code from his current supplier
Give Pac code to Sky
When his current sim stops working insert your Sky sim in the phone.
